The unit has a 1/4 HP motor with a rotary speed circuitry that varies between 500 rpm to 3800 rpm. This variable allows a technician to adjust accessory speed to appropriate levels when working on various types of appliances. The lathe also has a 3/8" tapered shaft that will fit all other existing lathe accessories of that size.
